TYC 2024 Earth Day " Protecting the Earth, Time is of the essence " series of events kicked off with the “Beach Cleaning” event on April 21st. On April 22nd, the Earth Day, TYC jointly held an one-hour lights-off event to integrate awareness of environmental protection and energy conservation into employee’s  work and daily habits, striving to the ecological well-being of the Earth.

Series 1 - April 21st: Beach Cleaning event

In the afternoon of April 21st, TYC, in collaboration with Juoku Technology, DBM Technology, and Tainan Community College, organized a beach cleaning event at Sikunshen Beach near the Anping Industrial Zone. 129 adults and children from TYC Group, along with partners from the community college, totaling approximately 165 volunteers, participated in the beach cleaning.

To promote eco-friendly practices during the cleaning event, TYC provided only emergency drinking water, encouraged participants to bring their own drinks,  and did not distribute bottled water. Additionally, 100 recycled material bags were provided to replace plastic garbage bags.

During the cleaning event, a total of 6,739 pieces of beach litter were collected and categorized into 48 categories according to marine litter monitoring standards. The top five categories were 1,748 pieces of fishing-related foam plastics (including EPS, EPP, and EPA), 873 PET bottles, 814 unidentified plastic fragments, 684 ropes, and 647 bottle caps. The plastics accounted for 72% of the beach litter.

Despite the scorching sun and 39-degree Celsius heat, volunteers remained enthusiastic and diligent, acknowledging the importance for reducing plastic waste to protect the environment.
