TYC Group 2026 “Protecting the Earth, Time is of the Essence” Series

From Local Shorelines to Global Action

TYC Group has launched its 2026 sustainability initiative, “Protecting the Earth, Time is of the Essence.” The program focuses on two key sustainability areas: ocean conservation and energy efficiency. By engaging employees, suppliers, local communities, and global subsidiaries, TYC Group is connecting local efforts with global action to drive meaningful impact.

The initiative kicked off on March 22 with a beach cleanup event, followed by coordinated Earth Hour participation across our global locations on March 27. Through these efforts, TYC continues to take concrete steps in support of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals(SDGs) 13:Climate Action and 14:Life Below Water.

Series 1 - Beach Cleanup

On March 22, World Water Day, TYC Group returned to Sikunshen Beach for its third consecutive cleanup event. In partnership with group companies JUOKU and DBM Technology, as well as supply chain partners Guan Mei Technology and Hui Xu Sustainability Co., Ltd., TYC engaged employees and their families in marine conservation efforts to help protect marine environments.
The event also brought together local organizations, including Tainan Community University and National University of Tainan, demonstrating a collaborative approach that connects industry, supply chain partners, and the community. A total of approximately 140 volunteers participated, helping to protect ocean and water resources through collective action.

To enhance participants’ understanding of marine pollution, an environmental education session was held prior to the cleanup. Instructors from Tainan Community University emphasized that “reducing plastic use at the source” is critical to addressing ocean pollution. By sorting and recording collected waste, participants contributed to identifying pollution sources and generating data for future environmental management and improvement efforts.

A total of 2,522 pieces of marine debris were collected and categorized. The top three categories were as follows:
1. Plastic bags and unidentifiable plastic items:655 pieces
2. Fishing-related polystyrene foam:372 pieces
3. Bottle caps:365 pieces
Plastic waste accounted for approximately 88% of the total, underscoring the ongoing need to reduce plastic use.

Series 2 - Earth Hour

On March 27, TYC Group joined the global Earth Hour movement by turning off non-essential lighting and equipment from 12:00 to 1:00 PM local time. This initiative brought together six TYC entities—TYC, TYCA, TYC CZ, TYCTH, JUOKU, and DBM Technology—with approximately 2,844 employees participating worldwide. The effort supports SDG 13: Climate Action, contributing to energy conservation and carbon reduction.

Notably, TYC America’s five locations expanded the initiative beyond energy savings by organizing environmental cleanup activities in surrounding areas and public spaces. This expanded effort reflects a broader commitment—transforming “lights off” into meaningful environmental care.
